NIA to probe maoist role in ambushes
A day after 14 Maoists were killed by the Orissa police near Padia in Malkangiri district, a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) and personnel from special investigation wings of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday arrived in the state to probe into the alleged links of the slain rebels in the May 25 Darbha Ghati attack and many other ambushes on security personnel.

“No reports of any injury from the side of the rebels are yet available. However, there was no casualty from our side as the assault plan was quite meticulously executed,” Orissa director-general of police Prakash Mishra said, after at least 14 Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in Orissa’s Malkangiri district late on Friday night, the police said on Saturday.
Guard held for murder in orissa
The Orissa police on Saturday arrested one Diptiranjan Patnaik, the accused involved in the murder of Bachhansudha Patnaik, wife of a leading businessman. Diptiranjan, who worked as the security guard at the house of the victim, killed the woman on Wednesday when her husband Manu Patnaik was away at his auto-showroom at Hanspal on the outskirts of the city.
14 Maoists killed in Orissa encounter
At least 14 Maoists, including a woman, were killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in Saliakota forest near Padia in Orissa’s Malkangiri district, nearly 750 km from here, late on Friday night, the police said on Saturday.
