MTNL slashes ISD rate for US/Canada
State-run MTNL on Wednesday slashed ISD calling rates to six countries, including the United States, Canada and China, for GSM and 3G subscribers to Re 1 a minute.
This is part of a scheme to reduce call rates to 26 countries to mark MTNL’s 25 years of service. These rates will be applicable for three months.
“We expect Rs 10-15 crore revenue addition through our ISD rate reductions, covering a total 26 countries, through volume growth. About 1-2 lakh more subscribers are expected to add our existing 50-lakh user base,” MTNL CMD Kuldip Goyal told reporters here. Call rates to Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore will also cost Re 1 a minute. —PTI
