Opp Bharat Bandh July 5
The NDA and Left parties on Tuesday announced a 12-hour Bharat Bandh and nationwide strike on July 5 to protest against the recent hike in the petroleum products by the UPA government, while demanding a rollback of the hike. The parties have stated that the bandh from 6 am to 6 pm would be peaceful and rail and road traffic would not be disturbed.
Though both the NDA and Left parties have called the bandh on the same day and against the same issue, they would not be sharing the platform.
The JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Tuesday stated that all the major Opposition parties have come together on the issue, which is the first instance after the “JP movement in the 1970s”.
“I have got confirmation from a host of leaders for the Bharat Bandh on July 5. I have spoken to CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, A.B. Bardhan of the CPI, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, AIDMK chief J. Jaylalitha, JD(S) chief H.D. Deve Gowda, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, INLD chief Om Prakash Choutala, Punjab chief minister Prakash Badal, Orissa chief minister Navin Patnaik, TDP chief N. Chandra Babu Naidu. All these leaders have consented to join the Bharat Bandh on July 5,” Mr Yadav told reporters.
However, the Left parties made a separate announcements in this regard. BJP chief Nitin Gadkari also gave a call for bharat bandh asking political outfits to join the bandh.
“In order to protest against this unjustified hike in petroleum prices and the total ineptitude of UPA government to address this problem, BJP president Nitin Gadkari has given a call for a Bharat Bandh on July 5,” BJP national spokesperson, Mr Tarun Vijay said.
The NDA’s call for a 12-hour “Bharat Bandh” came hours after the Left and non-BJP Opposition parties called a 12-hour nationwide strike on July 5.

I support the bandh. There has be some stern steps taken in order to make the govt realize. how drastic it is for the middle-class people to have even a rupee incremented for an item. Not only political parties but corporates, schools, colleges should come forward and support this.
This bharat bandh is useless.

This bharat bandh is useless. These political parties only make a fool of the common man. Who will suffer from this bandh. These politicians or the common man. It is the common man who will suffer. If Opposition do not support the hike, they must fight it out with the govt and not take it out on the common man.
I Support the Bharat bandh.

I don't know one thing, how can all the political parties compensate the financial loss that the people of India will incur in one day. I have a business, my team members worked so much
that they were expecting big results on Monday that could increase the payout to each team member by Rs 200 to Rs 5000 for this one single day. If the politicians are so worried, why don't they do a hunger strike, that will also force the govt to reconsider the decision but it will not be at the loss to people of india.

It is true that we all need to support the bandh.
With the rising price and the product price one goes up never comes down. Sugar price never came down, dals price went up, and it still remains the same. How can common people live life, if the prices of common things like rice/sugar/dal is so high.

Besides supporting Bharat bandh on the issue of hiking of petroleum prices, I think we should also join on hiking of everything. The MP's & MLA's allowances, pay hikes, increase in the subsidies, in crease in pay hikes of employees. Then i think everything would be justified.

Oil price will continue to increase and its quite obvious as well. I would just like to suggest the people who are calling bandh that this showcase of your care free attitude wont help in any ways. Bandh won't decrease the price, it will affect the Indian business. So you are not doing good for people, rather you are disturbing the market.
