Parvathy Omanakkutan’s ‘flag dress’ sets off row
While the nation discussed how anti-national elements were spreading hatred through the social media, Keralites were busy protesting former Miss India World Parvathy Omanakkutan’s photo shoot clad in Tricolor.
Interestingly, the photo shoot happened some months back but the photos of the model-turned actor, posing in a Namaste posture to a shutterbug, wearing a mini skirt customised with national flag, went viral on Facebook and Twitter.
The photos started doing the rounds from Independence Day, with people calling for action against Parvathy, Kerala’s very own, for showing disrespect to the National Flag.
Many pages shared the photographs seeking action against Parvathi who is now busy with many projects in the tinsel town.
According to legal experts, the Flag Code of India makes it clear that the flag shall not be used as a portion of costume or uniform of any description; and nor shall it be embroidered or printed upon cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins or any dress material.
Many protesters are even comparing the act with the incident of model-turned actor Gehna Vashisht being assaulted for wearing a National Flag around her waist on a bikini photo shoot.
