'PM gave DMK freedom to loot country'

Lucknow,: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had given the DMK 'full freedom' to loot the country, Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari said here on Friday while referring to the 2G spectrum scam that has led to DMK MP A Raja resigning as telecom minister.

"PM ne DMK ko desh ko lootne ki puri azaadi di (PM gave the DM full freedom to loot the country)," Gadkari told reporters on the sidelines of a convention here.

Describing it as 'very unfortunate on the part of the prime minister', he referred to a news report and said there was 'a deal between the Congress and the DMK over the pricing issue of 2G spectrum'.

It was initially decided that the pricing would be the task of the group of ministers (GoM) but as per a deal it was given to the DMK, resulting in a scam of Rs.176,000 crore (Rs.1.76 trillion), he said.

Asked if BJP's man in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, would also be asked to quit over allegations of land grabbing, Gadkari said: "No comment."

Gadkari was in Lucknow to attend the National Convention of Urban Good Governance.

Corruption has infected the veins of main stream. 60 years of India’s Independence has witnessed many killers, dacoits, smugglers, land mafias etc as MLA's, MP's and CM. Spokespersons are used to misguide the country. Clean chits and blame game has become part of dirty politics wasting time, energy and money. JPC could be done to all closed down case of corruption given clean chits, from Coffin to Bofors. Life time ban must be applied on corrupts to stop them getting more higher post through revolving door after sacked.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
