Tribal rapists’ trial in fast-track court?
Six persons, who allegedly gangraped a tribal woman in front of her husband on Sunday night at Baripada in Orissa’s Mayurbhanj district, were on Tuesday sent to jail after their bail petitions were rejected by a local court.
“All the accused have been sent to jail today. The police is investigating into all angles of the crime and we will ensure that the trial is held in a fast-track court,” said B.K. Aich, additional superintendent of police.
The incident took place outside the Baripda hospital, where the victim along with her husband, had gone to meet her ailing brother who was admitted there after a road mishap a few days ago. Two sweepers accosted her when she went to relieve herself in Sarali river.
