Two held for murder of DGM

The Orissa police on Friday arrested two persons in connection with the gruesome murder of Powmex Steel plant deputy general manager Radheshyam Ray at Orissa’s Titlagarh on Thursday.
The arrested were identified as Sura Manahira (46) and Kumar Bag (38). Sura and Kumar — who were working in the plant since long — were dismissed recently. Ever since, they were nursing a grudge against the DGM as they thought him responsible for their dismissal.
Ray was burnt alive on Thursday by a group of agitated employees of the plant while he was going home for his lunch.
According to the police, at least 25-30 people are involved in the killing of the DGM.

BHOPAL

March 4: A non-official resolution to revise the Madhya Pradesh government’s table of preference which places the city mayors above the legislators for the purpose of protocol was turned down by voice vote in the state Assembly on Friday.
Replying to the debate on this resolution moved by Congress MLA Nishit Patel, the minister for general administration K.L. Agrawal said the government be given time to reconsider the matter. He said that appropriate action will be taken only after studying the status vis-à-vis protocol at the Centre and other states. The minister sought three months to take this matter to its logical conclusion but the Opposition members kept demanding that the government should complete the exercise during the session.

C’garh will probe ‘sale of dam’
Rabindra Nath Choudhury
Raipur

March 4: Ending the 24-hour impasse in the House, Chhattisgarh Assembly speaker Dharmlal Kaushik on Friday announced constitution of a five-member Joint Assembly Committee (JAC) to probe into the “controversial” sale of a dam in the state to Hyderabad-based firm.
He declared that the house panel would submit its report before last day of the next session of the Assembly. The Opposition Congress had forced the adjournment of the House since Thursday demanding a probe by an Assembly committee into the circumstances that led to “sale” of the Ragda dam in Janjgir-Champa district to a Hyderabad-based firm.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
