Police in Pakistan's northwestern Swat region have arrested four suspects, including a woman, in connection with the attack on Malala Yousafzai, a media report said.

According to Geo News, police claimed the mastermind of the attack has been identified.

All four suspects were arrested during raids in and around Mingora town in Swat. The suspects have been taken to an unknown location for interrogation.

The mastermind of the attack, identified as Attaullah, has been identified as a resident of Sangota area of Swat.

Malala was shot at by the Taliban when she was returning home from school in an attack that sparked outrage across the country and condemnation from world leaders.

President Asif Ali Zardari Friday telephoned her father Zia-ud-Din Yousafzai, and strongly condemned the barbaric act of the militants. He also expressed grief and shock over the incident, Geo News reported.

How many innocent girls have been killed by American invaders in Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries including Pakistan by drones? The Taliban are, first and foremost, patriots fighting the invaders; their appeal to Islamic orthodoxy is needed to motivate and mobilize people.
