Jyotiraditya’s Rs 10,000cr gift for bengal
The foundation stone for the second phase of Raghunathpur thermal power plant of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) was laid by Union power minister Jyotiraditya Scindhia at Dumdumi of Raghunathpur in Purulia district on Sunday.
This 1,320 MW power project, a part of the 12th Five Year Plan with super critical boiler, will ensure clean green environment. The plant will be built on 2,098 acres of land for which all statutory clearance has been obtained.
Mr Scindhia while addressing the gathering, said: “I have come to West Bengal for the first time. Not with an empty hand but with a gift of `10,000 crore investment.” Union minister of state for urban development Deepa Das Munshi was also present on the occasion. She said that the Congress had a clear ideology and a will to work and that was the reason that the Union power minister was in the state.
Meanwhile, before the arrival of the minister, hundreds of land losers backed by the CPI(M) protested outside the venue demanding employment in exchange of land.
