Maoist squad member with 13 warrants held
A Maoist squad member Govind Singh Sardar was arrested by in Bankura district in the early hours of Saturday.
He was produced in the Khatra sub-divisional court of Bankura. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Govind’s house in Hizali village in Barikul police station area and arrested him.

Land reforms official caught taking ‘bribe’
A sub-divisional land and land reforms officer (SDLRO) was arrested for taking a bribe of `50,000 from a woman. The incident took place on Tuesday evening at Raghunathpur in Purulia. SDLRO Dulal Das was caught red-handed accepting the bribe from a woman in a hotel.

No salary for six months, teacher hangs himself
A vocational teacher of Garh Raipur High School in Bankura committed suicide after allegedly failing to get his salary for the last six months. Tapan Satputi, 40, was the only earning member of his family which consists of his parents, wife and a seven-year-old. A resident of Silaboni village under Simlapal police station, he hung himself from a tree in Jharia area of Indpur police station area.
Tutor held for ‘rape bid’ on student
A private tutor was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a Class 5 student at Masila village under Khandghosh police station area of Burdwan. The family members of the victim, however, claimed that he had tried to rape her. Minister: Strict action if paddy purchased at below govt price
Strong action will be taken against any agent of a rice mill owner who will try to purchase paddy at a price below the one fixed by the government. This was announced by state food and supplies minister Jyotipriya Mullick on Monday.
