Wild tusker spreads panic in asansol village
A tusker has spread panic in Topshi village in Jamuria police station of Asansol subdivision. Forest department officials are monitoring the movements of the elephant which strayed into the area apparently from the Mejia forest of Bankura district on Friday evening.
The tusker has destroyed crops in the fields and damaged shops and houses.
It also trampled a calf to death.
Hula parties are being deployed to lead the tusker back to the Bankura jungles. People were so panic-stricken that the local primary school was closed down on Saturday.
