Bachelorette spa parties in vogue

Drinks and strippers is passe, spa sessions are in. At bachelorette parties in the city, skin and beauty treatments amid soulful music and healthy snacks is catching the fancy of the young girl brigade who love to let their hair down before a friend’s wedding.

Spa owners in the capital say that celebrating bachelorrete parties at spas is really catching up. Many young brides treat their friends and family members with an exotic spa treatment before their marriage. Simmi Ghai, from the spa Expressions, says that the number has really increased in the last few months. “We book the entire area and provide services according to the client’s demand,” she says.
Ghai thinks this works in favour of the bride, as she is not alone during the beauty sessions. “Earlier, the bride usually came in alone and used to be nervous throughout the sessions. Now, with the entire family around, it’s comforting for them,” she says.
Dr Sangeeta Chauhan, nutritionist at Exclusive Salon & Spa, however, has a different take. She says that bridal spa parties are becoming popular because everyone has begun following beauty and skin care trends. “Nowadays, not only the bride, but everyone else related to her also wants to look the best during the marriage ceremonies. They anyway came for separate spa sessions. Looking at the demand, spas too have come up with various offers, sometimes even customised according to the client’s requirement, thus making spa parties even more popular,” says Dr Chauhan.
Shweta Bhatia, a management professional who booked a spa before her marriage in July and treated all her friends to beauty sessions, says that she did so on her friends’ demand. “I had planned a grand party for my friends, but they preferred to go to a spa. And it actually turned out to be great,” she concludes.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
