Remixed jingles prove party hits
Washing powder Nirma, washing powder Nirma. You’ve definitely heard this ever-green popular jingle on TV. Now you can not only hear it, you can even dance to its remixed version at pubs and parties in the city.
DJ Vishnu, who played a remixed jingle recently, says, “My friend gave me a track of his remixed version of Oye bubbly. It was an instant hit when I played it.” He traces the origin of the current craze. “It was the jingle of a deodorant ad, I like to party that started this worldwide trend.”
From the music composed by A.R. Rahman for a leading telecom operator to the popular toothpaste jingle, Kya aap, funky ad songs are flooding the party scene. DJ Ali of a nightclub, says, “I remember playing the ‘washing powder’ jingle at a party two years ago and the crowd went berserk. And now ad jingles are rocking the party animals at nightspots. But I still think these ads have a very short life span.”
Party regulars enjoy these tunes, especially after they’re ‘high.’ Abhishek Kumar, an IT professional admits, “They’re different and hip and you enjoy it all the more after getting a little tipsy. My personal favourites are Day and Night I’m Waiting and Hamara.. from a bike advertisement.”
