Tech-savvy youth ‘tap’ into phones
While politicians are still in a tangle as they try to sort out who tapped whose phones, they are probably blissfully unaware that there are dozens of different types of software available online to snoop on phone conversations.
All this software is easily available and can be freely downloaded. Most youngsters download it for fun. And, yes, there are those, who misuse it to pry into the private lives of people.
“We had a feeling that two friends in our gang were seeing each other. They were tight-lipped and refused to reveal a thing, so we decided to find out ourselves by tapping their phones. We did this by downloading a software that could grant access to the memory storage files of their phones,” explains Ganesh, a college student.
Ganesh and his friends used a software that, once the bluetooth network is established, it uploads data instead of downloading.
“I fooled one of them by telling him that I was sending him an image. After gaining access to the memory card, I transferred all his photos to my phone. And guess what, we were able to get hold of their mushy photographs,” grins Ganesh. The most ingenious part is that the software camouflages the downloading process by displaying the ‘receiving data’ symbol. The victim is assured that he or she is receiving data but actually, the data is being uploaded.
