The three-day visit by AICC secretary, in-charge of AP affairs, K.B. Krishnamurthy that began on Wednesday was a reflection of the rift in the state Congress, with many of the leaders who called on him pouring complaints against their party colleagues, while some offering suggestions.
Though the stated objective of Mr Krishnamurthy's visit is to elicit opinion from the legislators on appointment of District Congress Committee presidents, the meeting held in CLP office in the Assembly premises led to speculations that he has come to assess the situation and report back to the party high command. However, Mr Krishnamurthy made it clear that he will be collecting the opinions of party leaders on the calls for a change of the CM and the PCC chief.
“Why should there be a change of the CM?” Mr Krishnamurthy asked. He added that no leader had sought a change of guard before him during his interaction with them. However, several MLAs complained against some ministers who have been criticising the CM. They demanded action against those indulging in anti-party activities and making remarks against the CM. “If any leader violates the party discipline and issue statements against the CM or the PCC chief, we will take action against him,” Mr Krishnamurthy said. He also met Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana separately.
