Former Orissa women and child development minister Kamala Das was on Saturday sentenced two years rigorous imprisonment for misutilising her position to favour private firm. Besides, she was also awarded a penalty of Rs 2,000 non-payment of which will attract one more month’s of imprisonment.
Bhubaneswar special vigilance court judge S.K. Mohanty found Ms Das guilty in showing “undue” favour to a private firm to get the work contract for supplying iodised salt to anganwadi centres across the state.
