Now cell mobility in the air too? Yes! The restriction on use of mobile phones in flight will soon be a ruling of the past. Communication authorities of several countries have already given the green signal for passengers to use their mobiles during flight. RIM, the maker of BlackBerry — the smartest cell-phone moving around town — is being pressurised by maximum mobile user countries like China and India to comply with security norms, and modify the heavily-encrypted format of BlackBerry messaging software, which presently is code crack proof. Terrorists could misuse this messaging service. Since the last couple of years, the Indian Government has been threatening to block their services in India unless RIM came up with a system by which IIA (Indian Intelligence Agencies) can have access to all mail and message-related data routed through their server. This system should be in place ASAP to avoid the misuse of the BlackBerry messaging service in India.

Unplugged recommends that mobile phone users refrain from exposing this inseparable companion to the slightest magical monsoon drizzle.
