Battle of the LCD-LED TVs

I have a Samsung 26-inch LCD (HD) TV. I wish to upgrade my TV. Please advise what I should choose between a Full HD LCD TV and an LED (42-inch) TV.

All systems go wireless, digital

I want to buy a DTH connection that is good — Sun DTC, Airtel DTH, Reliance DTH, Tata Sky or Dish TV. Please tell me which will work best for a Sony LCD.

Answers to your tech queries

I read your article on DTH revolution. I want to know whether I will be able to connect the cable TV signal through Digital TV recorder of reliance recorder or any other Digital recorder. All these recorders will be able to record and play back only the signal beamed by particular company. Do we have digital recorders in the market which can record and play back? Please suggest.

The DTH revolution is here!

The evolution of cable TV to direct-to-home TV (DTH) via satellite has created a mini revolution. DTH has slowly but surely encroached upon 25 per cent of the cable TV territory. Very soon, the DTH collection per subscriber will outbeat that of cable TV. DTH has changed the way of watching TV. You can now watch your favorites beamed directly to your smart phone.

Major brands are offering LCD TVs in various price ranges, cashing in on the World Cup frenzy. I would like a 32-inch full HD-LCD TV for around Rs 30000. Which one should I purchase?

Dial ‘d’ for digitisation

Cable TV and DTH services are speeding towards digitisation since TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has increased its pressure on the service providers to digitise their products.

‘LED’ing the way!

My LCD TV is working just fine, but would you recommend that it’s time to upgrade to an LED TV?

Take a Tablet
The Year 2011 will be the year of the Tab. The tab is a cross between a mobile phone and a net-book. It is bigger than a mobile and smaller than the novel net-book.,

What’s in the cards!

The present year in the AV world has been the year of LCD-LED TVs. The major players are Sony, Samsung and LG along with the late starters — Panasonic, Sharp and Vu SONIC. The 2010 high-tech race has seen the plasma TV fading out, Sony pipping the winning post, LG and Samsung coming a close second,Vu SONIC galloping in from the outside with Sharp and Panasonic slowly moving in. I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
