Normalcy has returned to government hospitals and primary health centres in Rajasthan after doctors called off their 11-day-old strike late on Saturday.

It would have been one more Gopalgarh in Rajasthan if the plan designed to incite communal violence had succeeded, but timely action by the police in Bhilwara averted a possible communal violence in the textile city of Bhilwara.

The police has arrested a BJP leader in Bhilwara for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman and blackmailing her by using video clips of the crime. The stalemate between striking doctors and the Rajasthan government continued for the seventh day on Tuesday while the agitating doctors faced public ire in different parts of the state. The strike badly hit the medical and health services across the state and it claimed more than 64 lives. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot again made an appeal to the striking doctors to resume their work and cautioned them about the rise in public anger.

Health and medical services remained paralysed as the doctors’ strike entered its sixth day in Rajasthan on Monday. The state government invited the doctors for talks but also adopted a tough posture and termed the strike as illogical.
