Powerhouse of talent, grace

I was always fascinated by the Indian classical dance forms and the rich cultural repertoire.

Look beyond your genre

The face of “commercial dance” is constantly evolving. Trends keep changing all the time.

Follow the right kind of work out for dance

When we think of a perfect body type it’s impossible to discount the lithe frame of a dancer. There’s nothing quite as fluid, flexible and graceful as a dancer’s body.

Right kind of dance workout

Before you sign up for any dance lessons, know which one is the right sort of workout for you.

Make-up lessons that highlight on-stage presence

Perfect rhythm, supple body and agile limbs surely make for a good dancer, but on-stage, a dancer’s overall makeup and eyes are also appealing. They say that eyes are the windows to one’s soul.

The dilemma of dancing

I have been in the field of dance since the age of thirteen and have spent most of my life either, studying, performing, teaching, choreographing or helping dancers.

Dance with a flawless skin

Flawless skin and clear complexion is what every dancer dreams about. A dancer’s face and body is constantly on display and under bright lights on the dance floor and stage.

Let go of that stage fright

One of the most important aspects of dancing is to learn how to deal with stage fright. To be relaxed, calm and confident is very important for a dancer. Most of the international celebrities whom I’ve taught dance; have had to deal with “backstage jitters” just before a performance. Madonna, Shakira, Beyonce and even Kenny G too share the same fear. My student actress Kajol once told me due to stage fright she could never do live performances. It is natural for any dancer to feel nervous right before going on stage. Often this nervousness can hinder a dancer’s performance.

The nirvana through dance

One doesn’t really know what nirvana exactly means. But from my experiences I’ve come to accept nirvana as a means of attaining perfect bliss.

Passion that binds dance

It’s heartening to see friends keep in touch and keep a track of your achievements. Their wishes and most importantly their appreciation means a lot to me.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
