Clothes maketh the actor? I’m not quite sure about that, going by the suits as well as the casuals being ramp-walked in the movies nowadays. The fashion du jour is dictated, currently, by Salman Khan of course. That means super-tight shirts and vests which the Dabangg dude can explode from for the fight-to-the-finish.

The season of film awards is about to return with a vengeance. If I don’t attend or appreciate awards it is not out of a sour grapes attitude but it’s simply because I do not believe in them — whether it is the Oscars or the hundreds of awards given in our country by media houses and other organisations who know that such functions mean big business.

have to say this loud and clear. My blood boils with rage when I hear some premedieval jokers say that a woman wearing glamorous clothes is inviting herself to be raped. That’s like saying a rich man showing his wealth is inviting himself to be robbed. Or a political leader wielding his power is inviting himself to be killed.

Way back in my political science text books, one of the easier-to-remember quotes was historian Lord Acton’s, “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Occasionally, though, popularity makes male actors change for the better.

I am a 17-year-old girl doing my Class 12. I am jovial, funny and helpful. A friend of mine whom I know for a year or so is in love with a guy for the last six months. She talks only to me about their relationship. No one else knows about it. She asks for my advice/help if there is any sort of misunderstanding between them. I advise her and they settle down. Now the thing is she doesn’t talk to me after that until some other problem arises between them. I am in a situation that I can’t tell anyone about our friendship and the things that she shares with me. Is she treating me as her “best friend” or as “a stranger”? Should I talk to her about it? Is she “using me”?
Note: I am not in a relationship. I am sure they love each other sincerely and so I am helping them out. Is it wrong?
