Los Angeles: Just days after celebrating her first Oscar win, Sandra Bullock’s marriage to Jesse James seems to be nearing an end as the actress has moved out of the family home after reports of infidelity on his part.
Now it looks like Bullock will join the long line of Oscar-winning actresses whose marriage ended soon after they won the coveted award, with some other examples being Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Angelina Jolie, Hillary Swank and Kim Bassinger.

Jupiter-size planet is 1,500 light years away

Washington: A Jupiter-size planet has been discovered beyond the solar system nearly 1,500 light years away by a French spacecraft.
The spacecraft designed to discover new worlds has made one of its most significant finds yet — COROT 9 b — a planet that looks like a cousin to those in our own celestial backyard, journal Nature reported.
The planet is less massive than Jupiter and orbits a star, called COROT 9, at about the same distance Mercury orbits the sun.

London: New research has found that pregnant male pipefish give birth to more young ones from attractive mates. When it comes to mating, pipefish males always wait for bigger females to come along because “pregnant” fathers kill off embryos conceived by an undesirable female to make room for the offspring of a potentially more attractive female. Pipefish, sea horses, and sea dragons come from a family in which the males get pregnant. In some of these species, the females court and compete for males.

Miami: A son of reggae legend Bob Marley, Ky-Mani Marley, has written a new book claiming he was deprived of his father’s fortune for years unlike his half-bothers and half-sisters, sparking a row that could trigger legal action.
Ky-Mani Marley’s Dear Dad hit booksellers’ stands on February 6, when the late reggae icon would have turned 65. It has quickly become a major headache for this 34-year-old son of Marley.

Defamation trial: Oprah to defend

Philadelphia: Talk show host Oprah Winfrey is expected to spend two weeks in Philadelphia defending a defamation case linked to a sex-abuse scandal at her South African girls’ school. The trial is set to start March 29.

New Moon is favourite film of 2009

London: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart starrer The Twilight Saga: New Moon has been named the favourite film of 2009 by filmgoers. Nearly 50,000 film lovers voted for the Fandango Fan Choice Award at the upcoming ShoWest convention in Las Vegas, Contactmusic reported.

Ottawa: 450m-yr-old fossil remains found

Washington: Scientists have unearthed the remains of a 450 million year old armour-plated creature, which is one of the world’s rarest fossils, in downtown Ottawa, Canada.
The ancient fossil preserves the complete skeleton of a plumulitid machaeridian, one of only eight such specimens known.
