Population rise in border areas
The growth of population in the frontier state of Assam has declined but higher growth rate of population in bordering districts remains an area of concern.
Disclosing that population of Assam has grown to 3.11 crores, R.K. Das, the director of Census operation Assam, told reporters that state has registered an average growth rate of 16.93 per cent which not only less than 2001 Census but also below the national growth rate of population 17.64 per cent.
