No hike in passenger fares and no increase in freight rates despite the poor financial condition of the Railways, thanks in particular to the burden of the Sixth Pay Commission. An industrialist was kidnapped from neighbouring Noida with reports that the abductors had called to demand `1 crore in ransom. The police, however, said that the businessman’s family was not cooperating with it, as a result of which its task was getting difficult.

Doc held in carjacking incident

The Delhi police on Friday arrested a doctor in connection with vehicle thefts in Rohini area. The accused, Dr Manoj Kumar Singh, an M.D., is a practising physician.
“Singh has a medical degree from Russian State Medical Academy. He belongs to a reputed family. His father and mother are doctors and his wife is a pharmacist,” confirmed DCP (outer district) Chhaya Sharma.

‘26/11’ NSG commando held with banned drug worth `1cr

The Delhi Police has arrested an NSG commando for his alleged involvement in drug trade. The accused, 27-year-old Kuldeep, who is a native of Alwar in Rajasthan, was arrested with an associate, identified as Naresh. Kuldeep claims to be a part of the NSG team which was deployed in Mumbai during the 26/11 terrorist attacks. Meanwhile, police officers have also claimed to have seized 26 kg of a banned hypnotic drug worth over `1 crore.
