A Supreme Court panel on Friday recommended a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyuruppa in a case relating to alleged irregularities in denotification of land.

Congress on Saturday said it was ironical that former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyuruppa is fighting for bail in a corruption case at a time when the BJP is undertaking an anti-corruption yatra across the country.

Independent MLAs joining the Cabinet does not mean that they have merged with the ruling party nor can they be hauled up under the anti-defection law if they subsequently withdraw support to the government, the Supreme Court has ruled.
