Chakras of life

A human being is not merely a physical body. He is a combination of various layers — physical and etheric.

The lamp & the treasure

Every being is a poorna ansh of the creation. All the forces that run the creation exist within the being. However, these energies are bound, due to the dominance of rajas in a being.
Let me explain with an example. Diwali is round the corner. On the days that lead up to Diwali, you will see people shopping, exchanging gifts, feasting and making merry. And on the day of Diwali each one would be waiting for Goddess Lakshmi to come to their house and shower wealth and prosperity on them.

Feasting & fasting

On one of my expeditions to the Himalayas, I met a tapasvi. There was a mystical calmness about him.

Fibre of life

The clothes we wear are the closest to our physical at all time. By virtue of this, we are constantly affected by the nature of our clothes and their colour. That’s why it is advisable to wear clothes made of natural fibre. Wearing synthetic clothes will transfer on to you the artificial nature of the fabric, making you artificial and taking you away from the real world of nature. The same goes for ladies who wear bindis.

Churn the sea within

Every microcosm in this creation exists in layers. Cut across a bark or peel a fruit and you will see the layers. A human being too exists in layers, the panchkoshas — five layers of being. At a basic level you may relate to things around as substance, but at the subtler level they all possess energy. Every being, every object, every event, every day corresponds to a specific charge of energy.

Prana: The force of life

To understand nature one does not have to look around; one just has to look within because a human being is a microscopic representation of the whole universe. “Aham Brahmasmi”, or my swaroop is the swaroop of the universe is not a cliché. It has a very deep and subtle meaning.

Life at your fingertips

Mudras are a set of certain posture combinations that are practised in order to channelise a specific force to some specific area of the body. The body is not just the physical body; by way of certain permutation and combinations it has the effect of touching the physical as well as the etheric layers of the being, so the pranic movement, with the aid of consciousness, happens from the core to the outer layers.

Myths about spirituality

In today’s modern-day world the study of spiritual science has been confused with certain religions or sects that are prevalent. A major myth about spirituality is that people tend to think it as a part of a religion. Religion is a code of conduct prescribed by certain highly evolved souls who have taken birth in the world at a time when they were needed for the benefit of mankind.

Rise above your karma

The whole of Bhagavad Gita is about the Law of Karma. It is often said, “You shall reap, what you sow”. When you sow seeds, its germination and the quality of the plant you will get depends on the fertility of the soil. Similarly, every act of ours, however insignificant it may be, has the potential to germinate and bounce back depending on how and where this act has been performed.

The circle of life

The manifested Creation is based on certain laws which have governed it since its beginning. These laws rule us whether we approve of them or not. One of the main laws that binds us in our journey on this planet is the Law of Karma. It is not a mere coincidence that nearly every major religion of the world talks about karma.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
