BSF jawan held for molesting scribe

A young journalist working in a Bengali news channel was allegedly molested by a BSF jawan in a drunken state at Shyambazar on Monday evening.

Explosives found on train, passenger held

A man was arrested by the government railway police (GRP) with eight kg of explosives at Sealdah station early on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, a GRP team raided the Down Lalgola Passenger train soon after its arrival and caught a passenger Jalal Ali, 30. A cache of explosives looking like white globule was recovered in a bag from him. It could be ammonium nitrate which is used for making explosive devices, the GRP officers suspect.

Girl, 16, gangraped, beaten up in hotel

A Class 10 girl was allegedly gangraped and brutally beaten up by the assailants at Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas district on Wednesday evening. She was later left on the road in a bleeding state. Passers-by rescued her and rushed her to a hospital. The district police informed that the crime took place at the terrace of a hotel which has now been closed down. However, the two accused and the hotel owner are absconding.
