Civic polls: Congress approaches Mamata

KOLKATA, Feb. 2: To ensure a smooth sailing in the coming municipal polls and to avoid a fiasco like Siliguri municipal polls, alliance partners, the Congress and the Trinamul Congress, started the ball rolling on Tuesday with the first round of discussions between state Congress working president Subrata Mukherjee and Trinamul Congress Mamata Banerjee.

Rock climber falls to death in Purulia

Kolkata, Feb. 2: In a tragic accident, a rock climber fell to death at the Gojaburu hills in Purulia. A group of four mountaineers, known as the Mountains Quest of Kolkata who hailed from Thakurpukur area, went to the hills. While one of the four, Kaushik Bera remained in the base camp at Mohultar village, Amitabha Sen, Pulak Ghosh and Amalesh Kha began rock climbing.

Call for bandh in 3 districts

Autopsy says hotel worker pushed

Aug. 13: The preliminary post-mortem report of Prasun Adhikari, caretaker of Ritz Bengal Hotel, substantiated the police’s claim that he was thrown from the terrace and did not fall while climbing down the pipe.According to the post-mortem report, there was a fracture in Prasun’s left ankle and a burn injury on his left thigh. Multiple internal haemorrhages were found on his body, with no trace of blood from either his nose or mouth. No alcohol was also found in his blood.
