‘Kids manage 2,200 households in city’

A survey under the Mission Convergence of the Delhi government has pegged the number of socially vulnerable at eight lakh, while noting that there are about 2,200 households being run by children in the absence of their parents. Delhi government is working on a plan to come up with family development scheme to gauge the impact of various social welfare schemes being run by it.

Thieves dig tunnel to steal jewellery

Thieves struck at a jewellery shop in south Delhi on Tuesday night by digging a four-foot-long tunnel to execute one of the rarest thefts reported from the capital.
The police said the thieves walked inside the drain for about seventy metres and dug a tunnel which led them to the shop in Khanpur. Jewellery worth `10 lakhs is reported missing. Siddharth Prakash, the owner of Rastogi Jewellers On Devli main road said he opened his shop on Wednesday morning and found the tiles on the floor broken.
