Private schools information can be accessed under RTI: CIC

Private recognised schools cannot claim exemption from disclosing information to education directorate under Right to Information Act, a full bench of the Central Information Commission has held thus virtually bringing them under the ambit of transparency law.

Mehta: Govt sent reply to CVC queries

The Delhi government on Monday said it has sent a “point-by-point reply” to all the “queries” related to the Games projects by the Central Vigilance Commission.
Rejecting the allegations of corruption and irregularities in the Games-related projects, chief secretary Rakesh Mehta said, “Panic has been created unnecessarily as the report by the CVC was a routine assessment.”

HC awards Rs 5 lakhs to ex-babu’s widow

Almost a year after the death of former bureaucrat Trilok Nath Makan, who fell into a pit which was left uncovered by a negligent MCD contractor outside his South Delhi residence, the Delhi high court on Monday directed the civic agency to pay Rs 5 lakhs compensation to his wife Jai Rani for the callousness of the civic body and its contractor.

Ex-chairman faces case in Kandla Port Trust scam

The CBI has registered a case against a former chairman and three serving officials of Kandla Port Trust (KPT) in connection with a multi-crore-rupee land scam.
The disclosure was made by the standing counsel of the agency, Vikas Pahwa, before the Delhi high court division bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Manmohan.
