British PM wishes Games ‘every success’
Beginning with the ceremonial Guard of Honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan, British Prime Minister David Cameron had a packed schedule throughout Thursday, visiting Commonwealth Games village, the National Stadium, besides paying homage to the Father of the Nation at Rajghat. He did not visit the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main venue for the Commonwealth Games.
UK eyes India for investment
The visiting British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday asked India to further open up sectors like financial services and retail.
“Just as we in Britain are a very open economy, welcoming investment, you too are here in India. In banking, insurance and retail, there are further opportunities for openness that will benefit both the countries,” said the British Prime Minister.

Parliament approves Prez Rule for J’khand
Amidst the din created by the Opposition over price rise, the Parliament on Thursday approved imposition of President’s Rule in Jharkhand without any debate. A statutory resolution approving the central rule was adopted by a voice vote in both the Houses.
Lalu, Mulayam may use Shah issue in Bihar polls
It seem that the strategy of the Samjawadi Party and the RJD has confused the Oppostion and the ruling UPA. They are raising the vocie against the governemnt on the price rise inside and outside Parliament, but their priorities are different. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav views that the action against Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s tursted colleague Amit Shah would help his party more in the Bihar polls than the price rise issue.
SP, RJD plan street protests
The Samajwadi Party and the RJD continues to launch a scathing attack on the UPA government over the price rise issue. The two parties staged protests within the Parliament complex after the two Houses were adjourned.
‘Meira more affectionate to Pranab’
JD(U) president and Opposition NDA convenor Sharad Yadav on Thursday tried to make light of the prevailing situation in the Lok Sabha by claiming that Speaker Meira Kumar has more “affection” for finance minister Pranab Mukherjee than the Opposition.
Price rise disrupts both Houses
The deadlock in Parliament over price rise issue continued on Thursday with a determined Opposition, including supporting parties like SP and RJD, stalling both the Houses and almost no business could be transacted for the third consecutive working day of the ongoing session. Both the Right and the Left wings of the Opposition took the protest even outside the Parliament.
