Two weeks later the mercy petition plea file of the 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru moved again, with Delhi’s Lt. Governor, Tejendra Khanna, on Thursday night sending the file along with his notings to the Union home ministry, which had sought the opinion of the city government four years ago on the merits of the plea.
Uddhav nominated to integration council
Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray has been nominated to the National Integration Council (NIC) headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Shiv Sena, which has 11 members in the Lok Sabha and four in the Rajya Sabha, made the entry into the prestigious panel for the first time.

Discoms refute DERC claims
Amidst the impasse on the issue of the power tariff order, chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday said that her government would not do anything which could harm the interests of anybody. Further, in response to the claims of the DERC that the private power distribution companies (discoms) are earning healthy profits, two discoms on Friday, while replying to the power regulator’s letters, stated that the claims are wrong.
Mobile shop owner shot dead
Two unidentified armed assailants barged into a mobile shop in a south Delhi locality on Thursday evening and shot dead its 36-year-old owner.
Police officials said Harvinder Singh, the owner of the shop located near well number two in Katwaria Sarai was about to close his shop on Thursday when two unidentified assailants entered at around 11.55 pm and fired seven shots at him and escaped.
Robbers loot S. Delhi flats
