Robbers loot `22 lakhs in cash, gold
A dozen robbers looted cash and jewellery worth several crores from a finance company office in Shalimar Garden area of Ghaziabad on Saturday. The police has detained two employees of the company on suspicion. While initially, there were claims that gold and jewellery packets worth `1 crore has gone missing, the police said that only 80 packets of gold jewellery, which were roughly valued at `16 lakhs and `6 lakhs in cash, were missing after a detailed inventory was prepared.
9 injured in wall collapse at MCD parking lot site
At least nine persons were injured and some vehicles and shops were damaged when a portion of a wall collapsed at the MCD’s under-construction Parade Ground multi-level underground parking site in Chandni Chowk on Saturday morning. The MCD blamed the leakage from a pipeline that catered to a water reservoir constructed by the fire department for the incident and has ordered an inquiry. A case of negligence against unknown persons has been registered at the Kotwali police station.
