Even as the menace of dengue is yet to show sings of being on the wane for this season, the cases of chikungunya have increased in the city manifold. However, while the official numbers do not reflect this, the MCD is conceding that many hospitals are not reporting the cases to the corporation. The dengue cases in the city have, meanwhile, reached 5,553.

Court for probe into illegal hotels
After hearing a complaint filed against two hotels being run illegally in the Karol Bagh area, Tis Hazari Court chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav took a serious view of the “sordid affair” and favoured an inquiry by the Delhi police commissioner into the alleged illegal running of hotels in connivance with the local police officers. The CMM sought a report within one week.
Robbers set bank on fire in Alipur
In a bizarre incident, unidentified burglars set a local cooperative bank afire after apparently failing to get hold of the cash kept in its lockers at Alipur in outer Delhi in the early hours of Monday. The burglars entered the bank by creating a hole through roof and also used a ladder to get down. The police is investigating the case from all possible angles.
