OC seeks extension to return equipment

Faced with the unsavoury prospect of having to pay heavy fines for delay in returning of the equipment, the Organising Committee (OC) of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) is set to request the Central government for a waiver of 30 days more for sending back the hired equipment to their respective destinations or countries.

Commonwealth Games Organising Com-mittee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi was on Wedne-sday interrogated by the CBI for the first time in connection with various cases of alleged corruption in the preparations for the sporting event. Agency sources said “very significant” arrests in connection with its probe related to the CWG would be made in a day or two.
