Rs 1,300cr hike in plan outlay

New Delhi, Jan. 28: The Delhi government has decided to enhance its plan outlay from Rs 10,000 crores to Rs 11,300 crores in revised estimates for the current financial year 2009-10, whereas total budgetary provision for the current year will go up from Rs 23,043 crores to Rs 25,760 crores. The decision has come with an aim to ensure timely completion of all Commonwealth Games related projects and overcome any shortage of funds.

‘Tax NOC for property deals’

altNEW DELHI, Jan. 27: To ensure better collection of property tax, the MCD has proposed making payment of the tax compulsory for any transaction of plot of land, house or shops. It has also proposed to make it mandatory for those applying for licences to get a “no-objection certificate” from the house tax department. The agency is hoping that the government’s revenue department would adopt a mechanism to ensure that no properties are transferred without a NOC from the MCD’s house tax department.

Thick fog throws transport into chaos

NEW DELHI, Jan. 27: The sunny weather for the better part of Wednesday and a maximum temperature of 24.5 degrees Celsius were in sharp contrast of the heavy fog that descended on the airport since Tuesday evening and threw air and rail services off track before lifting around noon. At least 54 flights, the highest of the season so far, had to be cancelled. Meanwhile, at least 16 passengers were hurt when Haryana roadways bus collided with a tree on National Highway No. 1 at Alipur in outer Delhi around 11.30 pm on Tuesday.

Tractor goes missing from premises of IGI
