Los Angeles: Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman ever to win a best director Oscar on Sunday for her hard-nosed work on The Hurt Locker, the Iraq war film about a team of US soldiers who defuse bombs. In a true Hollywood twist, Bigelow edged out her ex-husband, Avatar filmmaker James Cameron, and both were widely considered the front-runners for the honour.

MUMBAI ,DAY 3 of the Lakme Fashion Week Summer-Resort 2010 kicked off to an “inspired” start on Sunday. Amalraj Sengupta was up first, showcasing his collection inspired by the movie Transformers.
Sling bags turned into hooded jackets, shirts turned into dresses at the flick of a zip and jackets worn in different ways to create two different looks. Linen appeared at its best in the grey, black and off-white tones of Sengupta’s first showing after his debut at the Gen Next show at LFW in 2009.

Mumbai: Dimpy Ganguly, who married Rahul Mahajan on a highly-watched and much talked about reality show, wants her husband to pursue a political career like his late father, Pramod Mahajan, rather than be in show business.
“I really want him (Rahul) to pursue a political career,” Dimpy told reporters here Saturday night after exchanging wedding vows with Rahul on Imagine TV’s Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega.
