The Greater Noida district administration on Saturday secured the release of two Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority officers who were allegedly abducted by agitating farmers protesting for higher compensations for their land acquired by the UP government. The farmers had also demanded the release of their leader and other arrested farmers.

Tiwari DNA test date on March 8

The Delhi high court on Saturday deferred to March 8, the decision on the date of the DNA test for Congress leader N.D. Tiwari on a paternity suit by a youth claiming to be his biological son. The court issued notice to the Centre for Cellular Microbiology, Hyderabad, seeking an explanation for not discussing the test procedure with the court. The court has asked the centre to reply before March 8.

Property dealer, 30, shot dead

A 30-year-old property dealer was shot dead late on Friday in north Delhi by four unidentified men riding motorcycles. Police officers said that the initial investigations in the case point out to a possibility of personal rivalry. The deceased has been identified as Zubair, a resident of Indira Enclave, north-Delhi.

Medico stabs two women flatmates

A student of medicine allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend and her companion in the Gautam Nagar area of Hauz Khas in south Delhi after he was asked to leave the apartment that he was sharing with the two women.

CBI moves SC for conspiracy charge on L.K.

The CBI on Friday moved the Supreme Court seeking inclusion of the charge of criminal conspiracy against BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders, including L.K. Advani and M.M. Joshi, in the Babri masjid demolition case even as the top court had clarified the position of the law on the vital issue in a verdict in March 2007.
