GoM set up on Haryana water row
With Delhi and Haryana failing to amicably settle their water sharing dispute, the Centre has set up a Group of Ministers (GoM) for its resolution.
The GoM will look into the water sharing dispute arising out of the newly-constructed Carrier Lined Channel (CLC) between Munak in Haryana and Haiderpur in Delhi, government sources said.
Youth killed, 2 hurt as speeding car hits verge
A 25-year-old man died and his two associates were injured when their speeding car rammed into a central road verge in Hazrat Nizamuddin area on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Javed, a resident of Pushp Vihar. “His friends, Danish, 23, and Charan Singh, 28, are in hospital. The accident took place at 1.10 am,” said a senior police officer.
Bomb threat to Metro station hoax
A hoax call of blowing up the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station on Thursday sent the police and security forces into a tizzy.
The call was received at 2.51 pm and commuters were stopped from entering the station at 3.12 pm. The police did the required security checks as per set procedures and bomb disposal squads were rushed to the station.
Noida cops chase, kill robber, 1 flees
An unidentified robber was killed, while his aide escaped on a police motorcycle during their exchange of fire with the police in Noida on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 1.15 pm when the police in Sector-82 received a call that two bike-borne robbers had snatched cash from a person and were escaping.
Boy, 6, charred in night shelter blaze
A six-year-old boy was charred to death in a blaze that broke out at a night-shelter in Meena Bazar area of central Delhi on Thursday morning.
The fire officials said the blaze started at the night-shelter at around 6.15 am on Thursday following which a call was made to Delhi Fire Service,

Yechury: Govt take on CVC inexplicable
The CPI(M) on Thursday said it was “inexplicable” as to how the government was saying it was not aware of the charges against chief vigilance commissioner P.J. Thomas while appointing him to the post. “It is inexplicable. We can’t really understand how the government is saying that they were not aware of certain matters,” CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said here.
CVC case: action on officials likely
The government, which is in a bind over the controversial appointment of CVC P.J. Thomas, is mulling action against certain officials who were allegedly responsible for failing to bring it to the notice of the selection committee that a request for prosecution sanction of Mr Thomas was pending with the government.
