Software bug hits BPL beneficiaries

A glitch in the software of Delhi government’s food and supply department has apparently deprived thousands of Below Poverty Line and Antyodaya card holders in the city of ration since the past five months.

24-yr man found dead in S. Delhi

A 24-year-old youth missing since Tuesday was found dead in a well in Mehrauli, south Delhi. The police suspects it to be a case of suicide. The deceased has been identified as Jitender, a resident of Islam Colony in Mehrauli, the police said.

Demolish 35 schools, MCD told

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been directed to immediately demolish 35 school buildings which were declared dangerous two years ago.
Issuing a notice to the MCD commissioner, the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) also asked the civic body to explain why there was a delay in demolition of these school buildings.

Delhi 1st: Court for kids in Feb.

By February next, Delhi will become the first city in the country to have children’s courts which will exclusively take up cases where a child is a victim.
A total of nine courts are being set up and the first court is expected to be functional by February next year. Currently, the Delhi police and Delhi government are identifying cases pending in various city courts involving children.

The much-awaited Justice B.N. Srikrishna Committee report on Telangana was submitted on Thursday to Union home minister P. Chidambaram, who immediately declared that the government would consult all political parties before coming to a conclusion on the issue. The members of the Srikrishna Committee said they have given the way forward. The committee on Tuesday had said the report would bring the “maximum satisfaction to the largest number of people”.
