Survey to count homeless in city

Aiming to include the homeless in the 2011 Census and providing them facilities accordingly, chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday launched a survey for them with assistance from UN Development Programme.

50 trees felled in IIT overnight

Scores of trees were felled in the Indian Institute of Technology in south Delhi on Thursday night.
Officials sources revealed that almost 50 trees were felled overnight and were transported out of the campus early on Friday in two trucks. The trees are being levelled for construction of a new faculty block and other construction by central public works department on the campus.

DRDO: Missile shield test in August

The indigenously developed ballistic missile defence system will be test fired in August this year, a top defence official said on Thursday.
“Now the (ballistic missile defence system) test is going to be conducted in the month of August during which we will try to intercept a missile at altitudes of 15-20 kilometres,” DRDO chief V.K. Saraswat told reporters here.
