Tour operators try to keep out of legal ambit
The drive of the Delhi government’s tourism department to register tour operators and travel agents before the Commonwealth Games to ensure hassle-free stay and travel for the tourists has again been extended till September 30. The earlier deadline was June 30, which in turn had been extended from the previous deadline of March 29. The drive was initiated on January 28.
Factory-owner found bludgeoned in ashram
A 40-year-old factory owner was bludgeoned to death by unidentified assailants in an ashram in Mukherjee Nagar area of north Delhi early on Saturday.
Police officials said the body of the deceased, identified as Vinay Kumar, a resident of Dheerpur village, was found at Baba Ramdas Ashram on Dheerpur road in Mukherjee Nagar area by the inmates of the ashram who immediately made a PCR call at around 6.30 am on Saturday.
MCD staff unions: A problem of plenty
City mayor P.R. Sawhney has reportedly asked the municipal commissioner to devise a way for ensuring that there is only one union of sanitation workers. At present there are over a dozen unions which generally tow the line of the political party to which they are affiliated.

Dutch rape: Accused bail plea rejected
A city court on Saturday rejected the bail plea of Yasir Altaf, accused of raping two Dutch women while posing as tourist guide. The accused had on Friday argued that he had “consensual” relations with the complainant and was being falsely implicated in the case.
Victim identifies Sajjan in court
Jagdish Kaur, a key witness in the Delhi Cantonment riots case of 1984 in which Congress leader Sajjan Kumar is facing prosecution, on Saturday identified the leader as the man who instigated the mob on the day of the incident. The woman had lost five members of her family, including her husband, in the incident.
