Modi govt files FIR against cop in a 26-year-old case

In what is being dubbed as vendetta action, the Narendra Modi government here on Tuesday, filed an FIR in a 26-year-old case of police encounter against IPS officer Kuldeep Sharma, accusing him of murders, criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. With the FIR already lodged, Mr Sharma is likely to be arrested by the state police any time. Sources said, Mr Sharma is being targeted because he is reportedly helping the CBI in Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

Gujarat DGP requests no lock-up for Shah

Gujarat DGP Shabbir Khandwawala reportedly called up CBI director Ashwani Kumar with a request that his ex-boss and former minister of state for home Amit Shah is not locked up in the CBI lock up room during his two-day remand. Former Gujarat minister of state for home Amit Shah has been remanded to two days in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody in connection with the alleged fake encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh after the Gujarat high court on Friday accepted the CBI plea for custody.
