A delegation of leaders from non-Congress, non-BJP parties met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday drawing his attention to the plight of farmers in Andhra Pradesh.

The Congress on Wednesday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s offer to appear before the PAC was his “personal sentiment” and did not mean that the government had conceded to any demand.

The Congress on Wednesday launched a frontal attack on the BJP-led NDA for making Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the target of their attack on the 2G spectrum allocation controversy. “They are paper tigers,” it said, and asked the BJP how many corrupt leaders it has been shielding.

The NDA on Wednesday launched an all-out attack on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and even sought his resignation on moral grounds if he failed to constitute a JPC in the 2G scam.

A 20-year-old youth Iqbal, who worked at a store in Maujpur, was stabbed to death in Jafarabad, southwest Delhi, on Tuesday evening.
Iqbalwas going to the shop when assailants intercepted him and asked him to hand over cash. “When he resisted, one assailant stabbed him in the abdomen,” a senior police official said. He was declared brought dead at G.T.B. Hospital.

Surinder Koli, the domestic help of businessman Moninder Singh Pander, was on Wednesday sentenced to death by Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge A. K. Singh for a 12-year-old girl’s murder.
