Pvt schools to hike fees for EWS quota

The private schools in the capital have indicated that they will raise the fees to compensate the financial burden in the wake of reserving seats for the Economically Weaker Section students.

6-coach trains inducted on Dwarka line

The Delhi Metro has inducted two six-coach trains on the crowded Noida Line to ease the rush. The trains began their maiden journey at 9.30 pm Thursday from the Yamuna Bank Station. The passengers can heave a sigh of relief as the trains used to be overcrowded during peak hours.

2 students, 3 others killed in accidents

Bus falls off DND flyway, 12 hurt

At least a dozen BPO employees, including a woman, were injured when the bus they were travelling in fell off the DND flyway in Noida on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred at around 7.15 pm when a bus carrying 20 employees of a BPO, skidded off the main carriageway, broke through the railing and fell off.

MCD razes structures, frees land

The MCD on Thursday carried its encroachment removal, sealing and demolition drive in various areas of the capital. In Karol Bagh, it got cleared at least 2,500 square metre of MCD land by removing the cars and motorcycles illegally parked in the second hand automobile markets on Arya Samaj Road and nearby areas.

Supply eases but veggie prices up

Even as the city government initiated sale of onions through 400 outlets at the rate of `40 per kg, the retail prices remained at `60 per kg and above in city markets. Tomatoes were sold in retail around `35 per kg and above in markets. Items like garlic and green chilly were perched at well over `100 a kg.

Woman, 23, leaps to death from flyover

A 23-year-old call centre executive jumped to death from a flyover on Thursday morning, hours after she had returned from her Noida office.
The victim, identified as Deepti, a resident of Paschim Vihar, sent her brother a text message saying “sorry” for taking the extreme step. She parked her car on the Moti Nagar flyover before jumping at around 7.15 am.
