In a move to ensure that the city do not get short of onions and its price remains stable over the weekend, Delhi’s largest wholesale market, the Azadpur Mandi will remain open on Sunday.
Govt failed to curb veggie prices: BJP
Delhi BJP on Saturday charged that the city government has failed to check prices of vegetables. Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta has charged that the onion, tomato and other vegetable prices at Mother Dairy outlets are higher than in the retail markets in the city.
Book Fair opens with fanfare
Delhi Book Fair opened on Saturday at Pragati Maidan with “Books of Rural India” as the theme. The Book Fair is expecting participation of over 250 publishers from India and abroad. Various seminars, book launches and panel discussions will be held during the fair.

BJP: Don’t let schools raise fees
Delhi BJP on Friday warned the city government against allowing private schools to hike their fees. The party threatened to launch a stir if the government allowed the private schools to hike fee on the plea of accommodating 25 per cent students from the economically weaker section under the provisions of the Right to Education Act.

`80 lakhs robbed from 2 in Rohini
A father-son duo was robbed of `80 lakhs in outer Delhi while the family of a retired NCERT official was held hostage by armed robbers.
Ram Kumar Goyal, who runs an estate firm, and his son Kuldeep were going in a Toyota Corolla car when four assailants in a car intercepted them near Rohini (west) Metro Station at 9.30 pm on Thursday.
Kandhamal under security blanket on Christmas eve

Metro completes eight years in city
The Delhi Metro has speeded up its work on Phase-III and has made amendments to the project as suggested by the Delhi government, said DMRC chief E. Sreedharan on the eighth anniversary of Metro operations in Delhi on Friday.
