Manmohan assures inflation fall by Dec.
Pinning hopes on the expected good monsoon this year, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday said food prices will soon come down and consequently inflation would ease to six per cent by December. Inflation currently is in double digits.
Chief whips meet ahead of session

Combative Gujrat chief minister Narendra Modi, who is embroiled in a fake encounter controversy, on Saturday, attacked the Centre for pursuing “pick and choose” policy in using CBI against his ministerial colleague and state home minister Amit Shah. He said, the Centre is using the investigative agency as a “political tool” against his government to settle scores.

The Congress on Saturday termed Gujarat minister Amit Shah’s resignation as “too little, too late” and attacked the BJP leadership for fully “supporting and justifying” his actions and showing no no “remorse or apology”.
High court puts marble traders’ eviction on hold
In a relief to marble traders operating in the west Delhi area, the high court has restrained the city government from evicting them from their premises.

Man, 29, shot dead by chain snatchers
A 29-year-old youth was shot dead by two unidentified men when he tried to resist their attempt to snatch the chain of his wife in the Bhajanpura area of east Delhi. The deceased, Ganesh Puri, an MNC employee, succumbed to injuries at GTB hospital early Saturday.
