OC officials to CBI: Kalmadi took decisions
Two top former officials of the Commonwealth Games organising committee, T.S. Darbari and M. Jayachandran, now both under arrest by the CBI, have reportedly told their interrogators that they had no role to play in finalising the deals and put the entire onus on OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi for all Games-related scams. Mr Kalmadi, who is now in China attending the ongoing Asian Games in Guangzhou, is all set to be questioned by the CBI on his return to India.

IAS officer in MHA detained for leaking secrets
An IAS officer working with the Union home ministry has been detained by the Delhi police special cell for allegedly leaking sensitive information from the ministry. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act is being registered against him.
Another building in Dabri razed
Following the Lalita Park building collapse incident, the MCD does not seem to be in a mood to take any chances as and when it receives calls about any building tilting dangerously. The latest to be demolished was a building in the Dabri area of southwest Delhi on Sunday. The action was taken following call from the local residents to the place.
MLAs’ salary hike demand turned down
In a jolt to Delhi legislators demand for higher salary, the Centre has rejected a proposal of the city government in this regard. Assembly Speaker Yoganand Shastri on Monday informed that the proposal had been turned down by the home ministry.
31 injured in separate accidents
At least 31 people were injured, 12 critically, in three separate road accidents reported from different parts of the city in the last 24 hours.
In the first accident in West Delhi’s Mundka area, 26 persons were injured when a Blueline bus on route number 926 (Old Delhi and Tigri Border) turned turtle after ramming into a Metro pillar early on Monday morning. There were around 30 passengers in the bus.
Ensure accused present for trial: Judge to court
Claiming the approach of a trial court judge as strange and contrary to law, the district judge S.P. Garg set aside the lower court order and directed it to issue process as per law to ensure the presence of the accused persons to face trial before the court.
Collapse victims’ belongings go missing
As if the trauma of loosing their near and dear ones and getting uprooted from their homes was not enough, the relatives of the victims in the Lalita Park building collapse incident now claim that their belongings are going amiss. They claim that they had managed to salvage a few things but were not allowed to keep them. The authorities said that locals and other unidentified people, who did not have anything to do with the incident, have managed to lay their hands on the belongings during the melee that ensued within the first few days of the incident.
Govt sets up panel on housing for poor
Following loss of lives in an east Delhi building collapse, the Delhi Cabinet on Monday constituted a high-powered committee to frame a broad policy for providing shelter to the poor. The Cabinet also decided that 9,000 low-cost houses would be allotted to the poor on a priority basis soon.
DDA yet to finalise flat auction plan
The final decision about the auction of 100 flats in the Commonwealth Games Village will take some time as the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is yet to send the proposal, which has been passed by the authority in a meeting, to the Union urban development ministry. The ministry will have to approve the decision before its implementation. DDA sources said that there was no problems as such and it was only a matter of procedure.
