Fair ends with traffic snarls on final day

The India International Trade Fair ended on Saturday and over one-and-a-half lakh people visited the fair. People made the most of the last day discounts as some stalls offered as much as 70 per cent discount. However, traffic in the area remained affected due to the fair.

Delhi secy, MCD get court notice

Taking notice of the car dealers who have encroached on the road and footpath below Defence Colony flyover in south Delhi, the Delhi high court on Saturday issued contempt notices to the chief secretary of the city government, the police and MCD chiefs for their failure to take action. In the notices the high court has asked actions against the car dealers.

CM for action plan to check fake drugs

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday assured to prepare an action plan to check the menace of spurious drugs in the city. While addressing a seminar on measures taken to combat counterfeit drugs, Ms Dikshit said these drugs are hazardous and fatal and there should be a policy of no tolerance towards them.

Cops release sketch of second suspect

In a fresh development in the investigations of the Dhaula Kuan rape, the investigating officers have on Saturday released a sketch of a second suspect of the five men who abducted and raped a 30-year-old call-centre employee.

The Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer, arrested on charges of leaking information to corporates, Ravi Inder Singh, has been placed under suspension.
According to sources the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) will also initiate administrative action against the officer.
