Cong slams MCD for proposed property tax hike

Leader of the Opposition in the MCD, Jai Kishan Sharma, on Tuesday accused standing committee chairman Y.K. Chandolia of infringing on the rights of the standing committee by outrightly rejecting the proposed five per cent hike in property tax rates proposed by the municipal commissioner during his Budget speech without a discussion. However, he also supported reducing the number of meetings of the standing committee to save lakhs of rupees of the MCD.

A CBI court in Ghaziabad on Monday rejected the application of Dr Rajesh Talwar and his wife, Nupur Talwar, the parents of murdered teenager Aarushi Talwar, seeking permission to oppose the CBI’s move to file a closure report in the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, saying their plea was “not maintainable” at this stage. Tribunal: Win, Q got commissions
